BEAVERS – Nature’s Engineers
We can learn so much from beavers. They methodically adjust their environment
to their needs, maintain it 24/7, and provide habitats for herons, fish, muskrats, otters
and a host of other wildlife species.
Beavers have also proven to be effective at controlling wildfires. Their ponds saturate the ground for acres beyond their borders with the help of fingerlike canals beavers dig
to reach a broader range of food choices.
Beaver trivia – Beavers don’t get cavities! Because of the beaver’s diet,
its teeth have an iron-rich enamel. Scientists are working on ways to add such
protective properties to human teeth – without the orange color of course!
